
Men's T&F Opened Weekend at JDL College Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The men's track and field team opened a busy weekend of competition at the JDL College Team Challenge Thursday night at JDL Fast Track.
Wildcat freshman Jordan Benson continued his stellar rookie campaign, claiming victory in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.31 seconds.
Freshman Nick Tompkins tied his season-best performance in the 60-meter dash, leaning across the line in 7.09 seconds. Junior Miles Hollimon was ninth in 7.16 seconds.
In the 200-meters, Hollimon edged Tompkins for second, stopping the clock in 22.70 seconds. Tompkins came through in the third at 22.84 seconds. Junior Nick Peeples was inside the top eight with a time of 23.17 seconds.
Hollimon, Peeples and Tompkins joined sophomore Bryce Kalsu to take second in the 4x400-meter relay, stopping the clock in 3:30.60.
Fellow freshman Raphael Degenero crossed the line seventh in the 800-meters with a time of 2:01.31.
Off the runway, freshman Dylan Ameres stretched the tape 13.26-meters (43'6) on his fourth attempt and only legal mark of the day to take second. Junior Langston Stephens was next with a mark of 12.90-meters (42'4) recorded on his first attempt of the evening.
Junior Phillip Maclemore matched his outing from last week's Camel City Invite, clearing 1.85-meters (6'0.75) in the high jump to place fifth. Benson was seventh at the same height, but required more attempts.
Wildcat rookie Dylan Lageman marked a weight throw of 12.66-meters (41'6.50) to place sixth.
Davidson returns to the track Saturday, Feb. 15 for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
