That next fall, I received my offer to be on the football team and had my official visit, which further solidified my decision to attend Davidson. I was elated and accepted the offer almost immediately. I chose Davidson because not only would it prepare me academically for the future; it also would give me the opportunity to continue my passion of playing football—now at the collegiate level. All throughout my senior year of high school, I thought about the opportunities that were awaiting me at Davidson and the sense of community I felt on campus. I could not wait to get started.
Since coming to campus in 2017, I have faced many challenges and had just as many successes. The transition from high school coursework to Davidson's rigorous academic setting was difficult. Davidson asks a lot of students, especially scholar-athletes who are managing so much, and we are expected to perform well in and out of the classroom. Between juggling school, football and an on-campus work study position, I initially struggled to manage my time efficiently. Since then, I have adjusted to Davidson's academic rigor and have honed my time management skills to succeed here. One of my greatest Davidson successes has been making the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll for three consecutive years. Aside from academics, I was elected Vice President of Patterson Court Council for my junior year and have been a Resident Advisor for the past two years.
Being a scholar-athlete has been both challenging and rewarding, and my overall Davidson experience has prepared me well for the future. Leadership, teamwork and work ethic are just some of the skills I will be taking with me as I move into post-Davidson life. I interned at Wells Fargo Securities the last two summers and have been offered a full-time job upon graduation as an investment banking analyst. It was through a fellow Davidson football player that I found the opportunity in the first place, and I am grateful to have had Davidson Athletics connections along the way.
To me, supporting the football team means you are investing in the futures of young men, both on and off the football field. Your support builds an invaluable community and network. Thank you for continuing to support Davidson Athletics and for learning more about my personal experiences as a Davidson Wildcat.
