BOSTON – Men's track and field junior Daniel Alvarez reset the program's 800-meter record Saturday at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at the BU Tennis and Track & Field Center.
Alvarez completed the four laps around the Beantown indoor track in 1:50.84, claiming his section and placing fifth out of 176 competitors. The Dobson, N.C., native broke Patrick Rollo's banked track record of 1:52.06 set at the same facility in 2015.
Sophomore Max Pearson placed 11th in his heat of the 3k, stopping the clock in 8:22.42.
Majority of the 'Cats stayed close to home to compete at the JDL Flat is Fast Meet at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Benson claimed a win in high jump, clearing 1.83-meters (6'0). The Wildcats also had success in the triple jump led by Jack Curtin's second-place leap of 13.41-meters (44'0). Freshmen Dylan Ameres and junior Langston Stephens were third and fourth with marks of 13.22 and 13.21 meters, respectively.
