Wrestling Takes Down Presbyterian, Wins Second Straight

CLINTON, S.C. – Wrestling picked up its second straight Southern Conference dual win of the weekend, downing Presbyterian College Sunday afternoon, 38-6.
With the win, Davidson improves to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in SoCon duals.
The 'Cats started strong with a pair of decision victories at 125 and 133 pounds. Freshman Cian Fischer picked up a sudden victory to open the scoring account before sophomore Kyle Gorant blanked his Blue Hose opponent, 6-0.
Junior Will Baldwin earned a fall in the final seconds of his 149-pound match over Byrton Goering to give the 'Cats another six points. Senior Hunter Costa registered the final bout points of the day for Davidson, in a late 5-4 decision. Costa recovered from a pair of first period takedowns, using an escape and takedown in the second and a earning a late stall point in the third for the win.
Davidson returns to the mats Friday, Jan. 31 at Hofstra. The first bout is slated for 4:30 p.m. from Hempstead, N.Y.
