Women's T&F Returned to Action at the JDL January College Kick-off

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Davidson women's track and field team returned to action Sunday at the JDL January College Kickoff at JDL Fast Track.
Freshman Maliyah Paynter snapped the tape in the 600-meters, crossing the line in 1:39.40. Classmate Brie Burrell, sophomore Leah Sarkisian and freshman Cheyanne Morris all finished among the top 10. Davidson rookie Liz Simms finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:24.51.
Three Wildcats finished in the top eight of the 1,000 meters led by junior Caroline Willis in third at 3:02.06. Freshmen Breila Fuller and Kelsey Troutman placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
Davidson freshman Alexandra Cisneros and placed third in the mile, stopping the clock in 5:29.60, while senior Emma Pettit took seventh.
Freshman Alexis McDonnell and senior Paige McKinney went 5-6 in the 3,000-meters, crossing the line in 10:36.11 and 10:39.97, respectively.
Wildcat sophomore Sophia Ackerman and Marquia Humphries went 7-8 in the 400 meters.
On the track side, first year scholar-athlete Gracie McBride stretched the tape 11.01-meters (36'1.50) in the triple, good for seventh.
Davidson returns to the track Friday, Jan. 24 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University and again Saturday at the JDL Flat is Flat Meet back at the Fast Track.
