
Second Week in a Row, Bunch & Braemer Win A-10 Weekly Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second week in a row, the duo of sophomore goalkeeper Mary Grace Bunch and forward Hailey Braemer claimed Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Defender and Rookie of the Week awards, respectively, as announced today by the league office for games played from Sept. 23-29.
Davidson has won six weekly honors this season. Bunch and Braemer again played roles in last week's pair of shutouts at home against Duquesne (2-0) and St. Bonaventure (0-0), which helped keep the Wildcats' unbeaten streak intact at 5-0-2 through the past seven games.
Reigning A-10 Defender of the Week Bunch earned her third and fourth shutouts of the season last week to go with six saves and a save percentage of 1.000 in 200 minutes. The Raleigh, N.C., native picked up her second win of the season in the win vs. Duquesne and had a season-best five saves. She added one more save in a scoreless double-overtime draw against the Bonnies, her fourth shutout in a row.
Braemer, the reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week, assisted on the game-winner in a 2-0 win against the Dukes at home. The Nashville, Tenn., native sent a perfect ball into the middle of the box, finding Cameron France for her second assist on the season and six points overall. Braemer took five shots on the week, with three of them going on goal.
Davidson (7-3-2, 2-0-1 A-10), which is on its longest unbeaten streak since winning seven straight games in 2007, will look to keep the momentum going with roads game at Rhode Island, Oct. 3, and Dayton, Oct. 6.
