Ross and Wildcats Climbed to Third on Final Day of Season Opener

DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to Alex Ross finishing third out of 88 competitors, Davidson carded the second lowest team total Tuesday, to also conclude the 2019 River Run Collegiate with a third-place showing.
A junior from Atlanta, Ga., Ross was just one of six payers to finish under par posting a 54-hole total of 212 (70-71-71). The 2019 all-conference performer concluded the annual event with 12 birdies and a pair of eagles.
Davidson (291-294-293), which recorded a school-record eight Top-5 finishes a year ago, picked up right where it left off finishing the 15-team field behind James Madison (-15) and Charlotte (+7).
Sophomores Clayton Tribus (+4) and Viraj Garewal (+6) also finished in the Top-25 for the Wildcats, while Dean Naime bounced back with a one-over 73 to post 226 (+10).
The Dukes' Walker Cress claimed the individual title at 9-under 207 (70-68-69).
Making his collegiate debut, freshman Ethan Hall (+12) was also in the Davidson starting lineup.
Up Next
Davidson will enjoy a two-week break before returning to action at the Mountaineer Invitational hosted by West Virginia Oct. 7-8.
