
Record 271 Wildcats Named to Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson placed a school-record 271 scholar-athletes on the 2018-19 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
"I am incredibly proud of our scholar-athletes who continually demonstrate how to do athletics right," Director of Athletics Chris Clunie said. "They excel in their sports and most importantly, in the classroom. We do not compromise our standards of excellence and our scholar-athletes consistently rise to the occasion."
To be selected for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Freshmen and graduate students are eligible to receive the award.
The 271 recognized, make up 80.6 percent of the 336 Wildcats that compete for an Atlantic-10 sponsored sport.
In all, the Conference also set a league record with 3,290 student-athletes receiving the distinction, which included 59 with perfect 4.0 grade point averages. The 14 members also set a league high of 235 average honorees per school.
Fordham had the most with 325, followed by Massachusetts with 307. Saint Joseph's was third with 279 student-athletes honored, while Davidson (271) and George Mason (260) rounded out the top five.
Davidson had the most honorees for the league in women's soccer, women's basketball, volleyball and men's golf.
