MURRELLS INLET, S.C. – Playing in his third NCAA Tournament, Davidson's Jack Lang opened the 2019 Myrtle Beach Regional with a seven-over 79 Monday at TPC Myrtle Beach.
Ranked 77th Nationally according to GolfStat, Lang rolled in a 50-foot birdie putt on the Par 4 ninth hole, to make the turn in one-over 37.
The 2019 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year experienced bad luck on the very next hole, as a buried lie in the green-side bunker led to a triple-bogey seven. Lang would go on to par the next five holes before finishing with three straight bogeys.
Lang will be paired with competitors from Middle Tennessee State and Robert Morris in tomorrow's second round with tee times being announced later this evening.
In addition to leading Davidson to its first-ever Regional berth a year ago, Lang competed as a sophomore after capturing the 2017 Atlantic 10 individual title.
