ORLANDO, Fla. – Enjoying one of its most successful seasons in school history, Davidson looks to defend its first conference title in 50 years as the Wildcats compete in the 2019 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship April 26-28.
The event will be played on the Par 72, 7,024-yard Villas of Grand Cypress layout.
Ranked 78th in the latest Golfstat National Rankings, Davidson will be paired with Fordham and Richmond in the first round beginning at 9 a.m. Friday morning.
The Wildcats, who led wire-to-wire in claiming last year's crown with a 54-hole total of 891 (300-294-297), concluded the 2018-19 regular season with two wins, seven Top-5 finishes and a 287.92 stroke average in 10 events.
Jack Lang, the 2017 Atlantic 10 Individual Medalist, leads Davidson and the conference with a 70.92 scoring average. In addition to 20 rounds of par or better, the three-time all-conference performer posted seven Top-5 showings, giving him a school-record 13 in 39 career tournaments.
A two-time NCAA Regional participant (2017 Individual / 2018 Team), Lang enters his final A-10 Championship as the nation's 77th ranked golfer according to Golfstat.
Fellow senior Hoke Carlton (72.75 stroke average), 2018 A-10 Rookie of the Year Alex Ross (73.00) and freshmen Viraj Garewal (72.89) and Clayton Tribus (74.89) will also be in the Davidson lineup this weekend.
A year ago, at the conference championship, Lang (T-22nd), Carlton (T-8th) and Ross (T-3rd) each recorded Top-25 showings for the Wildcats, while senior reserve Mike Blasey (74-70-74 | 218) claimed the individual title.
In all, Davidson golfers have combined for 11 Top-5 and 16 Top-10 finishes this season.
