Women's T&F Opens Busy Weekend At Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. –Davidson senior Caroline Yarbrough ran the third fastest 5k in program history as women's track and field opened the first day of the Raleigh Relays Friday at Paul Derr Track.
The Greensboro, N.C., native stopped the clock in 16:28.22, just under eight seconds shy of her school record mark, 16:20.70, set at the 2018 Relays. Yarbrough placed 21st out of 144 athletes.
Tori Long posted a top-20 finish out of nearly 80 competitors in the 400-meter run. The senior raced around the track in 56.88 seconds for third in her section and 17th overall. Long now holds the six fastest outdoor quarter mile times of all-time with Friday's effort slotting in at third. Sophomore Grace Loehr recorded a new personal best (58.03 seconds), while freshman Bianca Nolde-Lopez came home in 58.76 seconds.
Junior Katie Hines set a new personal record in the 100-meter dash, racing down the home stretch in 12.47 seconds to take fifth in her section. Senior Sophia Mills just missed the mark on her 1500-meter PR, crossing the line in 4:35.38.
Davidson returns to the track tomorrow, Saturday, Mar. 30 for the final day of the Raleigh Relays, while another group competes at the Terrier Relays hosted by Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.
