Radford Sends Davidson to Second Straight 4-3 Defeat

RADFORD, Va.  — 
Davidson suffered its second consecutive 4-3 defeat on the road over the weekend when Radford came back to came claim the match Sunday afternoon in men's tennis at the Radford Tennis Complex.
 
Trailing 3-1 in the match, the Highlanders (11-3) won the final three singles matches at No. 3, 6 and 4 to earn the win. The Wildcats, who lost to Richmond Saturday by the same score, fell to 11-6 overall in the season.
 
The doubles points went to Radford with decisions of 7-5 and 6-4 at the top two positions to start the match.
 
Davidson came back through strong in the beginning of singles action with wins at No. 1, 2 and 5 to grab the 3-1 advantage before Radford rallied. Junior Axel Fries won his second in a row and eighth overall with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 1.
 
Yash Parikh followed with his third straight win behind a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 2. The sophomore ran his overall singles record to a team-best 11-4.
 
Rounding out the final Wildcat team point was Douglas MacIntosh at No. 5 with a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 victory to bump is record on the season to 7-4.
 
Davidson has another set of weekend matches coming up at College of Charleston and The Citadel, April 6-7.
