Lang and Golf in Contention, Darkness Suspends Round 2 of Spring Opener

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Jack Lang is currently tied for third and Davidson was four shots off the team lead when the second round of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate was suspended due darkness.
The two-day / 54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 6,913-yard Wexford Plantation layout. Play will resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning with continuous play into the final 18 holes.
Ranked 91st nationally by Golfstat, Davidson is also in third place, three back of Furman and four behind team-leader Temple. After opening with a 301, the Wildcats made a move up the leaderboard in the afternoon and were in the midst of the day's lowest round when the horn sounded.
Davidson finished its fall slate with a win at the Dayton Invitational, a runner-up finish and two third-place showings. The Wildcats ended the four-tournament slate with a 287.72 stroke average.
Lang, ranked 96th in the country, opened with a one-under 71 and was even on his afternoon round before play was halted on his final hole of the day. The two-time all-conference performer will enter the final day three back of the Owls' Trey Wren (-4).
Senior Hoke Carlton (+3) carded six birdies during his second 18 to climb into a tie for 13th out of 95 competitors.
Alex Ross (T-32nd/+7), Viraj Garewal (T-40th/+9) and Clayton Tribus (T-59th/+12) are also competing for the Wildcats.
