Coppola Tabbed PFL Special Teams Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS – Davidson senior Corey Coppola was named the Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week, announced by the league Sunday.
Coppola was a defensive standout in the Wildcats thrilling and historic 91-61 victory over Guilford Thursday. The Bluefield, W. Va., native blocked a pair of Quaker point after attempts and a punt in the winning effort.
Coppola has gotten his mitts on four special team kick attempts this season including a blocked field goal against Chowan that led to his first career touchdown after returning it 78 yards for the scoop and score. For his efforts, he was also named a STATS FCS Special Teams Player of the Week honorable mention.
Davidson last earned a PFL Special Teams Player of the Week honoree when now-senior punter Charles Morris garnered the recognition on Oct. 29, 2017.
The 'Cats hit the road for the first time Saturday, Sep. 22 when they travel to Dayton. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m.
