Lang Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson's Jack Lang has been selected a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America Wednesday.
"I'm very proud of Jack," said A-10 Coach of the Year Tim Straub. "His hard work both in the classroom and on the golf course shows his commitment to being a stellar student athlete."
To be eligible for Srixon/ Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
A two-time all-conference performer, Lang led the Wildcats with a 73.93 stroke average, including 10 rounds of par of better, two Top-5 finishes and three Top-10s.
Lang, a Psychology major from Lexington, Mass., finished tied for fourth at the Firestone Invitational with a 54-hole total of 215 (-1). His second Top-5 showing of 2017-18 and sixth of his career came at the 2018 Seahawk Intercollegiate where his placed second out of 81 competitors.
A year ago, Lang captured the 2017 Atlantic 10 Individual title, which earned him a spot in the NCAA College Grove Regional.
Lang, a recipient of three athletic scholarships: Dr. Tom Scott Golf Scholarship, Covington Golf Scholarship, and Southwood J. Morcott Golf Scholarship, has six-career Top-5 finishes in just 29 events.
Since 1997, 14 Wildcats have received this honor, including David Sargent, Todd Eckstein, Tim Dillon, Alex Knoll, Steve Mayo and John Skeadas, all of which earned the distinction twice.
Davidson, the 2018 Atlantic 10 Champions, is coming off its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance as a team. The Wildcats' conference title was their first since the 1968 campaign.
