ATHENS, Ga. – Davidson's Alex Ross recorded a 72-hole total of 275 (-5) to finish second at the 2018 Georgia State Amateur Championship.
After opening with a two-over 72 Thursday, Ross carded a 67 in round two before shooting a pair of two-under 68s over the weekend to finish four back of Brett Barron (-9).
Ross, a native of Atlanta, Ga., was named the 2018 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year as well as the A-10 Championship's Most Outstanding Rookie.
In addition, Ross paced the Wildcats at their first-ever NCAA Regional with a 54-hole score of 210 (-3) to finish tied for 21st out of 79 competitors.
Davidson returns all five starters from its 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship squad. The Wildcats are coming off their first conference crown in 50 years.
