Baseball Mid-Summer Update #1

DAVIDSON, N.C. – As the end of June approaches, Davidson baseball continues to work in the offseason, with 14 Wildcats competing in summer prospect leagues. Three former 'Cats are also enjoying success in varying levels of professional baseball.

Clark Beeker '16 | RHP | Fort Myers Miracle (Class A Advanced; Minnesota Twins)
After two strong seasons to begin his professional career, where he boasts a 2.69 career ERA, Beeker currently carries an ERA of 3.04, logging 50.1 innings across 10 appearances and nine starts. In his most recent outing (June 12), the righty worked his longest of the season, going 7.2 frames scattering six hits while surrerendering just one walk and no runs.
Beeker was selected in the 33rdround of the 2016 MLB Draft.
Durin O'Linger '17 | RHP | Greenville Drive (Class Low A; Boston Red Sox)
O'Linger has spent time at three different levels this season, making a start with Double-A affiliate the Portland Sea Dogs in early June and appearing in five games with the Salem Red Sox (Class A Advanced) in April. Currently with the Greenville Drive, O'Linger boasts a 2-0 record with a sub-one ERA (0.64), limiting batters to a .235 average. In his last start (June 17), O'Linger tossed seven innings, striking out five with no walks while picking up the win.
O'Linger signed a nondrafted free agent contract with the Red Sox last June.
Will Robertson '17 | OF | Delmarva Shorebirds (Class Low A; Baltimore Orioles)
In his first full season in the minors, Robertson has cranked four homers, a triple, and 11 doubles, boasting a near-.400 slugging percentage. Robertson boasts a .653 OPS, and homered in back-to-back contests in early June against league-leaders Kannapolis. In his last 12 games, Willy Ro has been on a hot streak, posting a .358 average with 14 hits, including all of his long balls and triple.
Robertson was taken in the 30thround of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Eric Jones (SR) | C/UTIL | Cotuit Kettleers (Cape Cod League)
In seven games in the Cape, Jones has collected five hits, including going 2-for-3 over the weekend. Jones has started every game of Cotuit's season at third base, and has also caught in three contests. The Kettleers have seven games in the next six days before focusing on strictly West division play.

Alex Mardiney (SO) | OF | Charlottesville Tom Sox (Valley League)
Brett Centracchio (JR) | INF | Charlottesville Tom Sox (Valley League)
The Tom Sox lead their division, posting a 9-3 clip and going 8-2 in their last 10 contests. Bazin, in his second season with Charlottesville, has played in nine contests, pulling in eight hits and walking five times. In Sunday's contest, the Charlotte native went 3-for-3, driving in two and scoring, and began the season with a five-game hitting streak and reached base in his first seven contests.
Mardiney and Centracchio are both new additions to the Tom Sox roster after beginning their summers in different leagues.
Monday, Mardiney went 3-for-4 with a run, his debut in the Valley League. He started the season with the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods Baseball League, appearing in 12 games, hitting a homer and scoring three times.
Centracchio also made his Tom Sox debut Monday, doubling with a walk. The junior began the season in the Cape, posting a .600 average and .800 slugging, appearing as both a designated and pinch hitter.
Justin Lebek (SR) | OF | Danbury Westerners (New England League)
Walker Imwalle (JR) | UTIL | Danbury Westerners (New England League)
After earning a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Championship team for his hot bat during the 2018 tournament, Lebek continues to swing the ball well, carrying a .370 average across the first 10 games. The outfielder has scored four times, doubled twice, and homered while driving in six and earning six walks. Lebek ranks seventh in the NECBL in hitting, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI in Monday's contest.
Imwalle ranks near the top of the league, already launching two long balls. Appearing as mostly an first baseman, he's scored three times with six hits and 10 RBI, just two shy of the league lead.
Danbury currently sits in a close divisional race, tied for the Southern Division lead at 7-5, going 6-4 in their last 10.
Ward Coleman (JR) | INF | Wilmington Sharks (Coastal Plains League)
Coleman has tallied 10 hits in 15 games, while walking seven times and going a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases. He's scored five times and has recorded two doubles, posting a .333 on-base percentage.
Greg Lowe (JR) | OF | Martinsville Mustangs (Coastal Plains League)
Lowe spent the beginning of the summer with the Mustangs, tallying eight hits including going 3-for-3 with a double and homer in early June. Lowe also recorded eight walks during his time in Martinsville and scored five times.
Zach Nussbaum (JR) | C | Palm Beach Snowbirds (Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches)
Matt Frey (JR) | INF | Palm Beach Snowbirds (Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches)
Drew DeRubertis (SO) | RHP | Palm Beach Snowbirds (Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches)
Nussbaum has appeared in just three games in PB's young season, where he has a triple and a RBI. Frey posts a .333 clip with two hits, a run, three RBI, and two walks. DeRubertis has made one appearance so far, tossing two shutout frames where he struck out two and allowed no hits or walks.
Sam Reinertsen (SR) | LHP | Healdsburg Packers (California Collegiate League)
Reinertsen, who plays with his brother (RHP Henrik Reinertsen, Pacific) on the squad, has made four appearances in the season, picking up two holds, posting a 2.08 ERA. The California native has allowed just three runs (one earned), surrendering just one walk and striking out three.
Luke Burton (SO) | INF | DC Greys (Cal Ripken League)
Appearing in eight games this summer, Burton has scored, drove in a run, and walked twice. He's also made two pitching appearances, totaling five strikeouts over six and a third innings. The middle infielder has played second base in six contests and two at short.
INCOMING FRESHMEN
Trevor Candelaria (FR) | OF | Sanford River Rats (Florida Collegiate League)
Candelaria got off to an impressive start in the FCBL before suffering from a broken wrist. In seven games, the Florida native turned in five hits and scored four times, blasting three long balls and a double. Two of his homers came in back-to-back games, and the outfielder posted three multi-RBI games, driving in six in his brief season.
