DAVIDSON, N.C. — After leading Davidson to its second straight trip to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship over the weekend, senior Christine Molinari earned a spot on the league's all-championship team.
Molinari is the second Wildcat to garner a spot on the all-championship team during Davidson's four years in the A-10. Annie Brockett '07 made the team in the 2006 and 2007.
The senior attacker from Rochester, N.Y., capped off her solid senior season by scoring a combined eight goals to go with two assists for 10 points in games against VCU and Massachusetts. Molinari ended the season with career bests in goals (31), assists (20, tied) and points (51, a team best) as well as shots (68) and groundballs (12). She also played in all 19 of the Wildcats games this year, a new personal best.
During a 17-13 quarterfinal win vs. VCU, Molinari led the way with a career-high five goals on six shots. She had a hat trick in the first half and then scored her last two goals during a 6-3 run to close out the win.
Molinari again provided the offense in the 'Cats' semifinal setback against top-seeded UMass, scoring a team-best tying three goals on just three shots and dishing out two assists for five points.
The senior ended her productive career with 73 goals, 61 assists and 134 points, placing her fourth all-time in assists and 10th in career points. Molinari's 20 assists this year were the eight-most in a single season. She had eight multi-goal games this year to push her career total to 19.
Joining Molinari on the A-10 All-Championship team was Richmond's Kim Egizi (Championship's Most Outstanding Performer), Julie Ball, Marissa Brown, Mia Castagnero and goalie Megan Gianforte. From the Minutewomen, Stephanie Croke, Kasey Keane, Kaitlyn Cerasi, Holly Turner and Hannah Burnett made the team, while Saint Joseph's Sam McGee was also honored. Richmond won a thrilling 12-11 overtime game against UMass to snap the Minutewomen's nine-year championship streak.
