ARLINGTON, VA. -- Despite competing in just three games of tournament action, Davidson baseball earned two spots on the 10-man Atlantic 10 All-Championship team in junior Justin Lebek and senior Evan Roberts, announced by the league after top-seeded Saint Louis was crowned the 2018 champions Saturday afternoon.
Lebek slugged his way onto the squad, blasting a tournament-high three home runs and a triple en route to a 1.231 slugging percentage and .385 average. The Wilton, Conn., product drove in five, scored three times, and also made a handful of fantastic catches in right field during the 'Cats tournament run. Lebek launched his ninth long ball of the season in Davidson's opening contest, upsetting fourth-seeded Richmond 6-2. He followed that up with two moonshots in Thursday's quarterfinal against Saint Louis and A-10 Pitcher of the Year Miller Hogan, his second multi-homer game of the season. Lebek finished the season tied for the team-lead with 11 homers, ranking second in the league.
Roberts hurled his third complete game of the season in the tournament opener, tossing 125 pitches against Richmond while striking out six and surrendering just one walk. Both of the Spiders runs were unearned, dropping his season ERA to 3.49. Roberts did not allow a runner past first for four consecutive frames, and was one of just two pitchers during the Championship to toss a complete game.
