Wrestling Earns NWCA All-Academic Team Honors

MANHEIM, Pa. – The Davidson wrestling team earned NWCA Division I All-Academic team honors, announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association Wednesday.
The Wildcats ranked 26th in the nation with a combined team grade point average of 3.14. Davidson joins fellow Southern Conference squads, Campbell and The Citadel, ranked 9th and 30th, respectively.
"I am so proud of our wrestlers for their commitment to their academic pursuits," said head coach Andy Lausier. "This is a great accomplishment and it represents the standard of excellence our student-athletes strive for, both on and off the mat."
Harvard claimed the top spot for the fifth time in the last six years, boasting a team GPA of 3.57. The ranking is determined using a system that takes 12 student-athletes total from each program, including the 10 entries into the conference qualifier.
Davidson last made the grade in 2015 when the 'Cats ranked 19th overall. The 'Cats previously posted a stretch of six nods in seven years from 2006-12 with a high mark of fifth in both 2009 and 2010.
