DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson picked up an impressive 6-1 win over College of Charleston at home Sunday afternoon in men's tennis, halting its nine-match losing streak in the all-time series at the same time.
The Wildcats ran their season record to 14-6, while the Cougars fell to 7-11.
In doubles action, the 'Cats ran their team record to 28-20 after wins of 6-1 and 6-2 at No. 2 and 3 positions, respectively. The senior duo of David Hager and Shamael Chaudhry ran their record to 10-5 on the season at No. 2, while Jack Riazzi and Yash Parikh won their eighth together.
The momentum shifted to singles where Davidson scored wins at five of the six spots to secure the team win. Artem Khrapko pulled out a three set win after losing the first set, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. The senior won his 50th career match and is 12-8 on the season.
Axel Fries gave up just three games in a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 to bump his win total to 13, tying for tops on the season.
Seniors David Hager and Jack Riazzi won a pair of straight-set matches. Hager scored a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4, giving him an 11-7 record, while Riazzi at No. 5 dominated in a 6-3, 6-0 win to run his record to 12-4.
Rounding out the singles winners was Parikh, who earned a 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) win at No. 6. He is 3-3 on the year.
Davidson closes out the regular season by hosting Richmond, April 22, in an Atlantic 10 match.
