FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Both Alex Ross (72-74-74 = 220 | T-21st) and Jack Lang (75-73-73 = 221 | T-25th) recorded Top-25 finishes to pace the Davidson men's golf team at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate hosted by Loyola University (Md.).
The two-day/54-hole event was played on the Par 72, 7,000-yard Fort Lauderdale Country Club North Course, which was built in 1951.
Hoke Carlton, who was competing as an individual, fired the Wildcats' lowest final round with an impressive four-under 68, to climb 34 spots up the leaderboard and finish at 223 (76-79-68).
Mike Blasey (79-74-75 = 228 | T-62nd), Nathan Tenpas (77-82-72 = 231 | T-73rd) and Michael Freeman (83-75-76 = 234 | T-78th) were also in the Wildcat lineup, while Spencer Papciak (81-79-74 = 234 | T-78th) joined Carlton as an individual competitor.
Davidson carded a 294 Tuesday, its lowest round of the event, to post an 893 (303-296-294).
Austin Peay State (-1) rallied from 10 strokes down to win the team title, while Cole Castro (-6) of Old Dominion claimed the individual crown.
The 14-team field consisted of Austin Peay State, Boston College, Connecticut, Davidson, Drexel, Florida Atlantic, Florida Golf Coast, Hartford, Loyola University Maryland, Old Dominion, St. Bonaventure, St. John's, Toledo and Villanova.
