WILMINGTON, N.C. – Davidson's Jack Lang (143/-1) is just three strokes off the lead in sixth place, following rounds of 70 and 73 on day one of the Seahawk Intercollegiate hosted by UNCW.
Lang, who already has a pair of Top-10 showings this season, recorded nine birdies Sunday, including five in his opening round of two-under 70. The junior is just one of six competitors under par entering tomorrow's final 18 holes.
The two-day/54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 6,967-yard Country Club of Landfall Nicklaus Course layout.
Like Lang, Davidson's Alex Ross (152/T-39) carded a second-round 73, while Nathan Tenpas (150/T-29) posted a pair three-over 75s.
Hoke Carlton (158/T-59) and Michael Freeman (159/T-62) are also competing for the Wildcats (303-298 = 601), who are just 11 strokes out of fourth place.
Davidson's individual competitor, Mike Blasey (157/T-55), recorded rounds of 77 and 80.
The Seahawks fired a second-round 9-under 279 to grab a seven-stroke lead over Michigan State. UNCW has three players at even par or better, including Blake McShea (-4), who holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard at 140.
