'Cats Remain Perfect in A-10 Play, Keep Win Streaks Alive

DAVIDSON, N.C.  — The Davidson women's tennis team kept the winning ways going Thursday afternoon on their home courts by rolling to a 6-1 win over Saint Louis in an Atlantic 10 match.

The Wildcats (13-2) pushed their overall winning streak to 10 in a row, marking the second time in the past three years they have had a double-digit win streak during the season. In addition, they claimed their seventh straight home win to move their record to 10-1 on their home courts and also remained perfect in league play at 4-0.

For the ninth time in the past 10 matches, Davidson took the doubles point. Led by the duo of Anna Catharine Feaster and Megan Scholvinck, the pair stayed undefeated with their sixth straight win together after a 6-3 decision at No. 1. The team of Lindsay Song and Ally Sexton moved to a team-best 8-4 on the season by blanking Saint Louis' (6-8, 2-2 A-10) No. 3 team, 6-0.

Davidson went on to claim five of the six singles matches, dominating at No. 3, 5 and 6 positions. The trio of Alexandra Abele (6-1, 6-0), Song (6-1, 6-1) and Ava Todd (6-0, 6-1) gave up just a combined four games in their straight set wins. Abele moved to a team-best 13-2 on the season, while Song won her season-high 11th straight to tie a team high this year and remain perfect at 11-0.

Todd reached the double-digit win total for the fourth consecutive season, sitting at 10-2 and 4-0 in league action. She has a career A-10 record of 21-0.

Gabrielle Centenari won her career-best ninth match in a row by scoring a 10-4 super tie-breaker win to finish off her match. She had split the first two sets, 3-6, 6-2, before playing a super tie-breaker to determine the winner at No. 4. She is now 11-2 on the season.

Giving the Wildcats their final team point was Scholvinck at No. 2. The junior tallied a 6-4, 6-2 victory to move to 7-7 on the season.

The Wildcats as a team improved to 67-22 in singles matches, including a 19-5 record vs. A-10 foes.

Davidson travels to Richmond to take on the Spiders this weekend, March 25, at 12 p.m.
