DAVIDSON, N.C. – Head football coach Scott Abell welcomed Austin Eisenhofer and Mark Hogan as the final additions to his staff, announced Tuesday. Eisenhofer joins on as the tight ends coach, while Hogan will work with the safeties.
A 2015 graduate of Washington and Lee University, Eisenhofer was a three-year starter for Coach Abell and served as a team captain for the Generals beginning in the spring of his junior year.
Eisenhofer landed his first coaching stint with the University of Minnesota-Morris where he mentored the wide receivers, tight ends and running backs in a triple spread offense system. He next moved on to fellow Pioneer Football League foe, Jacksonville, where he served as an offensive graduate assistant, working with the Dolphins quarterbacks and fullbacks.
A 2012 graduate of Georgia State, Hogan played three seasons at outside linebacker for the Panthers, leading the team in tackles during his tenure. Following graduation from Georgia State, Hogan played a graduate year at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, a first year program, and scored the first touchdown in program history on an interception return.
Hogan was the 49ers recipient of the Charlotte Touchdown Club Bronco Nagurski Scholarship and named to the All-Independent first team defense. He finished his career with a total of 234 tackles, 17.5 for loss, and 4 interceptions.
Hogan began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Texas State University, working alongside the defensive coordinator and helping with recruiting. Hogan then returned to Charlotte for two seasons as a graduate assistant, working primarily with the outside linebackers. He also assisted with special teams prep and recruiting for the 49ers.
Most recently, Hogan served as defensive coordinator for Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte. Hogan coached the WSOC TV Big 22 Player of the Year and a pair of defensive players who signed to play Division I FCS football.
Eisenhofer and Hogan are the fifth and sixth newcomers to Coach Abell's staff, completing the coaching search for the 2018 season. For a look at the other new staff members click here.
