Lang Leads Davidson Golf on Day One of Spring Opener

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – After opening the spring season with a 71 (-1), Jack Lang carded a 73 in the afternoon and sits tied for 17th out of 90 competitors following day one of the Wexford Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion.
The two-day 54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 6,913-yard Wexford Golf Club layout.
Lang (E), the 2017 Atlantic 10 Individual Champion, finished the day with seven birdies and will begin tomorrow's final round just four strokes out of the Top-5.
Spencer Papciak (T-55), who was the leader after six holes thanks to an eagle on the 405-yard, Par 4 second hole, opened with a season-low 73, before shooting 79 in the afternoon.
Hoke Carlton (153/T-52), Mike Blasey (155/T-67) and Alex Ross (156/T-73) are also competing for the Wildcats this week.
As a team, Davidson sits just 10 shots out of 10th following rounds of 299 and 301.
Perennial power Georgia (-9), leads No. 38 TCU (-8) in the the team standings by one shot, while Akron's Elliott Grayson (-8) holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard.
This year's field includes Francis Marion, Akron, Charleston Southern, Cleveland State, Dartmouth, Davidson, Dayton, Georgia, Furman, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Memphis, Mercer, Presbyterian, Radford, USC Aiken, Texas Christian University, and Wofford.
Davidson's spring slate will consist of five tournaments capped off by the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship in Orlando, Fla.
