SCOUTING THE AGGIES
NC A&T enters the week with a 3-4 record, most recently taking two-of-three from Davidson's upcoming weekend opponent Lehigh. The Aggies are led by senior Milton Rivera's .448 average. The infielder has already logged two doubles and two triples on the season and is boasting a .500 on-base percentage. Transfer Shane Faulk posts a .360 clip and is tied with Rivera for a team-best seven runs. Junior outfielder Dawnoven Smith is carrying a team-high .867 slugging percentage after belting three long balls already this season.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Davidson is 21-2 all-time against NC A&T, including sweeping the series a year ago. Senior Cam Johnson was 5-for-12 last year against the Aggies, blasting two long balls and scoring three times. Junior Eric Jones homered three times, including twice in the first game of Saturday's double header. Junior Justin Lebek also homered, posting a .333 clip across the three games.
JONES, GORDON EARN WEEKLY HONORS
After a monster week at the plate where he went 6-for-13, with three home runs and drove in 17 runs, Jones was tabbed a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. He clubbed .462 for the week, including blasting his first collegiate grand slam, and homered in part of Davidson's record-breaking performance in Saturday's 16-5 victory. He was also awarded Player of the Week honors from the Atlantic 10 for his performance.
Senior right-hander Connor Gordon also took home plaudits- claiming the second-straight A-10 Pitcher of the Week honors for the Davidson pitching staff. Gordon tossed six innings of no-hit ball against 2017 NCAA Super Regional participant Wake Forest, facing just one batter over the minimum. He worked three-up, three-down frames for the first five consecutive innings, and matched his career-high with four punchouts.
LAST WEEK AT WILSON FIELD
The 'Cats went undefeated on the week after sweeping Georgetown in a weekend series. The squad homered 12 times in the series, including hitting seven Saturday, a new program single-game record. Lebek, Jones, Johnson, and sophomores Brett Centracchio and Walker Imwalle all tallied multiple-base hits during the weekend.
