Baseball's Allen Barry Awarded Co-Pitcher of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Davidson junior right-hander Allen Barry was named Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week, after a dynamic Opening Day Performance where he tossed five innings, allowing just one hit and striking out eight.
Barry, a Malvern, Pa., native, scattered just two walks in his 2018 debut, making his first regular season start since March 19, 2017. His eight punch outs were a new career-high and all came in back-to-back fashion as he faced just four batters over the minimum. Although he earned a no decision with his performance, Barry propelled the 'Cats to a 4-0 victory, their first shutout since April of 2017.
Barry is only the second Davidson pitcher to ever earn weekly honors, after now legendary alum Durin O'Linger claimed the award twice. He is the third member of the current Davidson roster to win a weekly award from the Atlantic 10; position players Brett Centracchio and Max Bazin were each named Rookie of the Week during their freshman campaigns.
Barry and Davidson return to action Tuesday, welcoming fellow 2017 Super Regional participant Wake Forest for a 6 p.m. tilt.
