CHARLOTTE, N.C. –Senior defensive tackle Clay Robinson was the recipient of the Davidson College Touchdown Club Scholarship and was recognized at the 2018 Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet on Monday.
Robinson received a scholarship to be put towards his tuition, a write-up in the Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet program and was invited on stage to be recognized during the ceremony.
"[Robinson], from day one, has been a rock of our program and as new staff we thought some of the keys to having success in year one had to start with great leadership and we felt that really started with him," said head football coach Scott Abell.
Hailing from North Beach Haven, N.J., Robinson was a senior captain and leader on the defensive line, starting in all 10 games played for the Wildcats in 2018. Robinson recorded 74 career tackles, 40 solo and 5.0 for loss. He also made 2.0 sacks and recovered a fumble.
"Clay had a great senior year for us. We felt like he was one of the best interior defensive linemen in the conference, but most importantly, brought great stability and leadership in year one for our program. We are so grateful for what he did for us and our program and we hope it's a model of what is to come," said Abell.
