BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – In addition to Davidson coming home runner-up, its third Top-3 showing to start 2018, Jack Lang recorded his third straight Top-5 with a third-place finish at the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational Tuesday.
The two-day/54-hole event was played on the Par-72, 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club layout.
Tied for the lead after the second round, the Wildcats finished the annual event at 877 (296-289-292), 11 behind West Virginia (289-296-281 | 866).
Through three fall tournaments, the 2018 Atlantic 10 Champions have a second and two third-place finishes.
A senior from Lexington, Mass., Lang (212 | -4) got off to a slow start in his final round, before playing his final 12 holes in 3-under to card his 8th straight round of par or better.
Lang (72-69-71), the 2017 A-10 Champion and 2016 Rookie of the Year, has an impressive 69.75 stroke average this season.
Fellow senior Hoke Carlton (220 | +4) turned in his best round of 2018 with a 3-under 69 to finish T-8th, while freshman Viraj Garewal (222 | +6) recorded his third consecutive Top-15, placing T-11th.
Alex Ross (226 | T-21st) and Clayton Tribus (244 | T-71st) were also in the Wildcat lineup.
West Virginia's Max Sear fired a 54-hole total of 6-under 210 to claim individual medalist by a shot over Matt Naumec (-5) of Boston College.
In addition to the host Mountaineers, the field featured Akron, Boston College, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Georgetown, James Madison, Marshall, Ohio, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's and Winthrop.
