Davidson senior field hockey player Kate Singletary is affectionately known as "Trip" to her teammates and coaches.
She's always been embraced, but she's felt the love and support of her team on a deeper level over the past several months, since her father, John, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of cancer.
The Wildcats have rallied behind the Singletary family and will run in the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation 5K Oct. 13 in Charlotte. Then Trip will take ... a trip herself this summer. She will join other college students with connections to cancer on a 49-day, cross country "4K for Cancer" run from San Francisco to Boston.
