Baseball Adds Blake Mathews to 2018 Coaching Staff

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball has announced the addition of Blake Mathews to its 2018 coaching staff, head coach Dick Cooke announced Monday. Mathews will work primarily with pitchers, but will also assist with game day and facility operations, and help with camps.
Mathews joins Davidson after a stint at Samford University, where he served as the squad's director of player development. While there, he implemented the SYDEX Bats software system, assisting with recruiting, and coordinated with the Bulldogs' video department
He played collegiately at the University of Mobile, where he carried a sub-two ERA in his career with the Rams.
A native of Mobile, Ala., he attended St. Paul's Episcopal High School and posted a 12-1 record during his senior season and was named a regional all-star.
Blake and his wife Saige are excited to join the community of Davidson and the Wildcats.
Davidson baseball begins its 2018 season on February 16, where they host the Patriot League's Lafayette in a three-game series.
