Golf Heads to Akron for Firestone Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – After three weeks away from tournament action, the Davidson men's golf team returns to the course Monday at the Firestone Invitational hosted by Akron.
The two-day/54-hole event will be played on the Par 72, 7,125-yard Firestone Country Club North Course.
In addition to the Wildcats and host Zips, the 2017 field will include Bradley, Cincinnati, Dayton, Furman, George Mason, Illinois State, Mercer, Ohio, Old Dominion, Richmond, South Carolina Aiken, Temple, William & Mary and Valparaiso.
Davidson opened its fall slate with a 10th place showing at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, Sept. 11. The annual event was halted after 36 holes due to rain.
Jack Lang, the 2017 Atlantic 10 Individual Champion, led the Wildcats, finishing tied for eighth at two-under (73-67 = 140).
Lang will be joined in the starting lineup by Kevin Carlock, Nathan Tenpas, Alex Ross and Michael Freeman. Senior Spencer Papciak will compete as an individual.
Both Tenpas and Ross fired rounds of even par 71 the last time out.
