DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson wrestling, Dan Gable and Wrestlers in Business Network (WIBN) are set to host a joint speaking event in the Lilly Family Gallery on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
The night will feature speaker Dan Gable, who led Iowa to 15 national titles from 1976-97. While at the helm of the Hawkeyes, Gable compiled a dual meet record of 355-21-5 and coached 152 All-Americans, 45 of them National Champions. He led 106 Big Ten Champions and 12 went on to become Olympians, earning four gold, a silver and three bronze medalists.
Gable himself was a two-time NCAA Champion and once a runner-up, losing only a single match in his collegiate career. He went on to win gold at the 1972 Olympics in Germany without conceding a single point.
"It is an incredible honor to host one of the most prolific figures in the sport of wrestling on our campus," said head coach Andy Lausier. "Davidson Wrestling is proud to partner with the Wrestlers in Business Network to help foster relationships between wrestlers, while also promoting the sport of wrestling in the Charlotte region."
The event looks to help strengthen existing relationships with former Davidson wrestlers in the region and link many business professionals to current Wildcat grapplers with direct exposure to employment and job opportunities.
The purpose of the WIBN is to network business professionals with a common interest in wrestling, and promote the sport at all levels especially with college students and young professionals.
Dinner begins at 7 p.m. with an open social to follow. Register here before it closes Monday, Sept. 25!
