GREENSBORO, N.C. – Davidson's Jack Lang, the 2017 Atlantic 10 Individual Champion, carded a 54-hole total of 206/-4 (69-70-67) to finish tied for third at the Cardinal Amateur, July 28-30.
The three-day event was played on the Par 70, 7,002-yard Sedgefield Country Club layout.
A rising junior from Lexington, Mass., Lang posted five birdies Sunday en route to the second lowest final round total.
Lang became the program's seventh conference champion and just the third player in school history to advance to the NCAA Tournament. In addition, Lang was only the second Davidson golfer to play in an NCAA regional since the regional tournament format was adopted in 1989.
Lang, a recipient of three athletic scholarships: Dr. Tom Scott Golf Scholarship, Covington Golf Scholarship, and Southwood J. Morcott Golf Scholarship, has four-career Top-5 finishes in just 19 events.
The 2016 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year led the Wildcats this season with a 73.10 stroke average, which included 14 rounds of par or better.
Fellow teammates Michael Freeman (78-69-79 = 226) and Mike Blasey (76-76-79 = 231) also competed in the 82-player field this past weekend.
