NEW ORLEANS— The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its NCAA Division I All-Academic Teams for the 2017 indoor and outdoor seasons Friday, and rising junior Sean Caveney was named to the prestigious squad after a stellar sophomore season.

Caveney qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400m hurdles and maintains a cumulative GPA above 3.25 as an Environmental Studies major. The Andover, Mass., native took the silver medal in the event at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships after chiseling a personal-best time of 52.53 seconds, and later finished the NCAA East Preliminaries fifth in his heat.

In addition to Caveney, both the men's and women's teams were named All-Academic institutions for having cumulative GPAs above the 3.0 mark. The men boast a team GPA of 3.29, while the women rank near the top of the 218-women's teams list with a 3.42.
