Baseball America Release
DURHAM, N.C. -- As Davidson baseball's Cinderella magic continues, senior Will Robertson also continues to earn postseason accolades. The right fielder was named a second-team All-American by Baseball America, as announced Thursday morning. He was the only player named from the Atlantic 10 Conference, and one of just six players to earn recognition not from a Power 5 conference.
Robertson sported a batting average as high as .350 this season, and finished the regular season and A-10 Championships at a .335 clip, with 18 doubles, two triples, and 18 home runs, a single-season program best. Robertson was a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen bases this season, and struck out just 29 times in 236 at bats, prior to entering the NCAA Regional.
The Greenville, S.C., native also holds the program records for longest hitting streak (20 games, achieved this year) and longest reached base streak (currently at 54 games). Last week, Robertson was tabbed a Third Team selection by Collegiate Baseball, becoming the first All-American in the program since 2011 (Forrest Brandt). Robertson is the first player in school history to earn Baseball American Second Team status, and the first Wildcat to ever be named an All-American by multiple organizations.
He was also named to the Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference, and was one of 12 members to claim the prestigious A-10 All-Academic team plaudits. Robertson, a former National Player of the Week and two-time A-10 Player of the Week, graduated with a degree in economics.
In Davidson's NCAA Regional Final, Robertson drove in both of the 'Cats runs in with a screamer down the third base line en route to becoming just the sixth-ever four seed to advance to a Super Regional.
The entire Wildcats crew heads to College Station, Texas, for their NCAA Super Regional against Houston Regional Champion Texas A&M. Davidson will meet the Aggies in a best of three series beginning Friday at 3:00 p.m. (ET) at Olson Field at Blue Bell Park.
