DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's soccer team was honored for the 22nd consecutive year for their outstanding academic success as they were recently awarded as a team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
The Wildcats earned the Women's College Team Academic Award from the NSCAA for the 2015-16 season. The program has won the award every year since the inception of it in 1996. The Wildcats were one of 592 women's teams to post a team grade point average of 3.0 or above to earn the academic team honor.
Davidson as team finished with a team GPA of 3.36.
"I have tremendous admiration for what the women are able to accomplish from an academic perspective," said first-year head coach Adam Denton. "The girls have demonstrated once again that their dedication to their studies is the priority, but at the same time they are working as hard as possible to strive for success on the field. I am extremely proud of their continued success in the classroom."
A total of 918 soccer teams (326 men, 592 women) posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award. Of those teams, 236 schools had both their men's and women's program's recognized.
Davidson will be entering its fourth year in the Atlantic 10 this Fall and will welcome seven incoming freshmen to a group of 23 returning letterwinners for the 2017 season.
