SECAUCUS, N.J. – An hour after earning his third All-American accolade and ABCA All-Region honors, Davidson senior Will Robertson chiseled one more accomplishment to his continuously growing resume—he was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 30th round of the Major League Baseball draft late Wednesday afternoon.
Robertson, a Greenville, S.C., native, becomes the 23rd Wildcat and the 26th selection in program history. He will begin with the rookie affiliate GCL Orioles of the Gulf Coast League in Sarasota, Fla.
The right fielder finished his Wildcat career with a 56-game reached base streak (still active), the longest in school history. He turned in hitting streaks of 16 and 20 games each this season, and finished the year atop the team and league in nearly every offensive category. His 18 home runs set a new program best for a single season, where he also ranks first in school history in single-season extra-base hits (39) and single-season total bases (163).
Robertson leaves Davidson as a member of the winningest class in school history, as well as an Atlantic 10 First Team and All-Academic team selection. His outstanding play helped catapult the Wildcats into a Cinderella run, where they captured the program's first title in a 115-year existence, and went on to win the Chapel Hill Regional in their first NCAA appearance.
The walk on will be heavily remembered in Davidson baseball history, when he fired a ball hit to shallow right field home in the 'Cats regional championship, allowing roommate and fellow senior Jake Sidwell to make the tag at the plate and prevent the tying run from scoring. He also drove in both runs in the win.
Robertson graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Economics and had already accepted a job as a data analyst with local, prosperous adventure company Red Ventures in Charlotte.
Earlier Wednesday, Robertson became the most decorated Wildcat in program history. A list of his senior year accomplishments are below.

Will Robertson
"I'm thrilled to be able to continue playing baseball, and am incredibly grateful that the Baltimore Orioles have afforded me this opportunity. This past year has been the most fun I've ever had playing baseball, and I look forward to keep playing the game I love."
"Today would not have been possible without a number of people, far too many to list. I do want to highlight my family and my Davidson baseball family for the vital roles they have played in my life and in my baseball career. The teammates, coaching staff, and support staff I've had at Davidson are simply unparalleled. I also want to acknowledge Red Ventures for supporting me in this pursuit. I do not know of many places that would be as understanding as they have been. I'm so thankful for this chance, and I can't wait to see what the future holds."
Dick Cooke, Head Coach
"I am very happy for Will. He continued to mature all year long as a hitter, while displaying the skill set necessary to project at the next level. This is a great accomplishment for him."
Rucker Taylor, Associate Head Coach
"I'm so proud of Will and happy for him and his family. His evolution as a player and a person over the last four years has been a pleasure to watch. Will's development as a player is a testament to his dedication, his belief in himself, and just the amount of fun he had while playing."
Ryan Munger, Assistant Coach
"I'm so happy for 'Willy Ro'. All he has ever wanted was an opportunity to keep playing baseball, and I'm so thankful the Orioles are giving him that opportunity. They won't regret that pick, as Will will be a great presence in the locker room while still continuing to be a threat at the plate. I'll definitely be rooting for Will and the O's."
