TUCSON, Ariz. -- On the eve of Davidson baseball's first ever NCAA regional, senior Will Robertson continues to collect postseason accolades. The senior was named a third team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the only representative from the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Robertson sported a batting average as high as .350 this season, and finished the regular season and A-10 Championshpis at a .335 clip, with 18 doubles, two triples, and 18 home runs, a single-season program best. Robertson was a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen bases this season, and struck out just 29 times in 236 at bats.
The Greenville, S.C., native also holds the program records for longest hitting streak (20 games, achieved this year) and longest reached base streak (currently at 51 games). He becomes the first All-American since 2011 (Forrest Brandt), and the first to be recognized by Collegiate Baseball since Jay Heafner, 2006.
He was named to the Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference, and was also one of 12 members to be named to the prestigious All-Academic squad. Robertson, a former National Player of the Week and two-time A-10 Player of the Week, graduated with a degree in economics.
The entire Wildcats crew heads to Chapel Hill Thursday in preparations for their first ever NCAA Regional, after the team, as the sixth seed, defeated top-seeded VCU twice to claim its first ever Atlantic 10 title. It was also the first conference championship of any kind of the program in its 115-year existence.
