
Baseball Senior Trio Earns A-10 Postseason Plaudits

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A trio of Davidson seniors have been awarded with league postseason honors, the Atlantic 10 announced early Wednesday morning.
Leading the way was senior slugger Will Robertson, who was tabbed to the A-10 All-Conference First Team. Fellow power hitter Brian Fortier earned Second Team recognition, and Robertson was joined by veteran ace Durin O'Linger on the All-Academic squad.
Robertson ranks nationally in home runs (16), slugging percentage (.673) , and total bases (140), where he also leads the league in slugging, total bases, hits (75), and runs (52). Robertson carries an active 46-game reached base streak, tied for the longest In program history, and strung together a 20-game hitting streak earlier this season, also a school record. He has collected an extra-base hit in 21 of his last 25 games.
Robertson was named National Player of the Week in early May after blasting four long balls across two games, and A-10 Player of the Week twice.
Fortier, also a former National and A-10 Player of the Week, led the league for the most the season in home runs and slugging, finishing the year with 16 and at .623. He sits tied atop the league with 50 RBI, and finished the season at .327. Fortier reached base in 20 straight games this season and tallied 19 multi-hit games and 16 contests with multiple RBI.
O'Linger, a repeat selection on the all-academic team, holds one of the top GPAs in the league and was recently inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honorary. He graduated with a degree in biology, and will attend pharmacy school this fall at the University of Florida. On the mound, the veteran hurler carried a 2.95 ERA with a 7-3 record, ranking in the Top 5 of the league in both strikeouts and strikeouts looking and in the top 10 in ERA. O'Linger, like his comrades, was also named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week earlier this season, after tossing a complete game, 81-pitch shutout on the road at North Carolina A&T, where he fanned nine and allowed no walks.
Robertson joins the All-Academic team for the first time, finishing his time at Davidson with a degree in economics. He will immediately start working as data analyst and researcher for Red Ventures, one of the most prosperous up and coming businesses in the Charlotte area.
Davidson is one of two schools to place two on the all-academic list, making the second-straight year they've done so.
The team opens up Atlantic 10 Tournament play Wednesday morning, facing third-seeded St. Bonaventure.
