Baseball Picked to Finish Seventh in A-10 Preseason Poll

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- A year after making their first-ever postseason league championship game, Davidson baseball was selected to finish seventh in the Atlantic 10's Preseason Poll, announced Thursday.

The 2016 champions, Rhode Island, was picked to repeat, garnering six first-place votes and 156 total points. VCU, two years removed from a super-regional run, was closely behind, with five first-place votes and 155 total, and Saint Joseph's and Saint Louis tied for third place, each with 138.

Richmond, Fordham, and Davidson round out the top seven, which is the number of teams that will play in the A-10 Tournament this spring in St. Louis.

The 'Cats return a wealth of experience, welcoming back 16 seniors and juniors. The 2016 A-10 runner-ups, Davidson welcomes 10 newcomers and is set to begin their 2017 campaign Friday, February 17, hosting Georgetown in a three-game series.
