Megan Hollar Jenkins '06 – Women's Swimming & Diving
As a senior, Megan Hollar was named Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer of the Year and Performer of the Meet. A four-time conference champion, she's the only Wildcat in school history to win at the CAA Championships. In addition, Hollar became the program's first-ever to record provisional NCAA Championship qualifying times (100 and 200 breaststroke). Voted Rookie of the Year in 2003, she graduated from Davidson as the CAA record holder in the 100 breast and school-record holder in the 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM, and 100 freestyle. A Bryan Scholar, Hollar still ranks among Davidson's all-time Top-10 in three events, including the 100 and 200 breast.
John Latting '06 – Men's Soccer
One of the best defenders in program history, John Latting helped Davidson to a pair of Southern Conference regular season titles (2003, 2005), a tournament crown and an NCAA berth. In addition, the 2005 All-America selection (First since Rob Ukrop) was a three-time all-conference performer, two-time all-region performer and voted to the league's all-tournament squad in 2003. During his four-year career, he helped the Wildcats to a 50-28-8 overall record and 20-7-1 conference mark.
Dan Simonds '87 - Baseball
A four-year letterman for the baseball squad, Simonds earned the starting job behind the plate during his freshman year. Twice he was named All-Southern Conference and finished his career with a .305 average. His finest campaign came in his senior year when he batted .342 with eight home runs and 30 RBIs in 41 games. Simonds was an excellent defensive catcher, throwing out 43 percent would-be base stealers his senior season. After getting drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the seventh round, he ascended to the Triple-A ranks and served as the bullpen catcher for the Chicago Cubs. He is now director of baseball at IMG Academy after head coaching stints at Xavier (2005) and Miami of Ohio (2006-13).
R. David Sprinkle '66 - Football
A three-year letterwinner for Coach William Dole (1963-64) and Homer Smith (1965), David Sprinkle was a first-team All-Southern Conference performer in 1965. Known for being a fierce competitor, Sprinkle was also the recipient of the Best Defensive Player Award following his senior campaign. In 1993, he received the program's James P. Hendrix Award, which is presented annually to a Davidson football letterman who, by the use of lessons learned on the playing field, has gone on to achieve outstanding success in his chosen profession. Along with receiving the College's Alumni Service Award in 2006, Sprinkle served on Davidson's Board of Trustees for 10 years.
Brendan Winters '06 – Men's Basketball
The program's sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,892 points, Brendan Winters was named Southern Conference Player of the Year in 2005. In addition, Winters was an AP Honorable Mention All-America selection, four-time all-conference performer (1st Team – 2004-06; All-Freshman – 2003) and Southern Conference Tournament MVP. Among Davidson's all-time leaders in points, 3-pointers made, 3-point field-goal percentage, free-throws made, starts and minutes played, Winters helped the Wildcats to 77 wins, including a 16-0 SoCon record in 2004-05 and two postseason berths (1 – NIT, 1 – NCAA).
