DAVIDSON, N.C. – La Salle scored a pair of second-half goals to knock off Davidson, 2-0, in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Wednesday evening at Alumni Stadium.

With the setback, the Wildcats conclude the season 8-7-2 overall and 3-4-1 in league play, while the Explorers move to 8-9-1 and 3-5-0.

Despite the loss, Davidson finished with a 13-8 advantage in shots and 8-3 margin in corner kicks.

After a scoreless opening period, La Salle's Ryan Nork netted the eventual game-winner 2 minutes and 37 seconds into the second half, off an assist from Johnny Ciarlante.

In the 81st minute, Sixtus Akinlosotu put the game out of reach with a low blast from outside the 18-yard box.

The Wildcats had a number of scoring chances, including a free kick from Hunter Howard and Jordan Hill shot from point blank range that was deflected over the cross bar.

Prior to the contest, the men's soccer program recognized seniors Sam Bissett, Nile Chau, Cort Coxhead, Danny Davis, Hunter Howard, Nathan Marder, Zach Marks and Matt Reinikka.

Postgame Comments from Head Coach Matt Spear
"I commend La Salle for sticking to their plan, withstanding our pressure in the first half and snagging the away win."

"Our guys did a good job in the first half in terms of dominating possession  - but our scoring touch eluded us."

"Of course the loss for our Seniors was made worse when Saint Louis and St. Bonaventure won their matches tonight and thus leapfrogging us for the final A-10 Tournament spots."

"Regardless of tonight's results I am really proud of our eight Seniors. They were the primary reason we doubled our number of wins from last season. And it's due to their commitment to our Striver qualities that the team's culture improved. That's their legacy; along with the amazing friendships and fond memories that will endure."

"At the post-game Banquet the players, parents and staff were able to enjoy the special qualities of this class and what really matters to us - Family."
