ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Davidson freshman linebacker Tony Collins was selected the Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Sunday.
Collins helped supplement a stout Davidson defense in a 38-12 non-conference win over Livingstone Saturday night. The Covington, Ga., native tallied a career-high seven tackles, four of them solo stops, and recorded a sack for 10 a loss of yards. He also recovered his first career fumble in the win.
The Davidson defense has forced nine turnovers in the last two games and the 'Cats have won three-of-four contests dating back to the 2015 season.
The Wildcats open PFL play Saturday, Sept. 24 when they travel to Valparaiso. Kickoff from Brown Field is slated for 1 p.m.
