DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson freshman running back Keylan Brown was named STATS FCS National Freshman Player of the Week honorable mention, announced by the organization Monday afternoon.
Brown had a breakout game for the Wildcats last Saturday, rushing for 95 yards on 18 carries (5.3 yards-per-rush) and registering his first career touchdown in a 35-21 road victory at Kentucky Wesleyan.
"Keylan Brown is a tremendous asset to our football program and college community. I am proud of his performance last Saturday," said head coach Paul Nichols.
The Jacksonville, Fla., native scampered 15 yards into the end zone, capping an 11-play, 67-yard drive, for his first collegiate score.
"He adds another dimension to our running game. Coach Marino and Coach Price have done a tremendous job of integrating him into our offense. We look forward to a big year from Keylan," said Nichols.
Davidson opens play at home Saturday against Livingstone College in a non-conference clash. The Red Out Richardson game is slated to kickoff at 7 p.m. from Stephen B. Smith Field.
