DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson continues its stretch of playing five of its first seven games at home when East Tennessee State comes to Alumni Stadium for a 7 p.m. matchup on the pitch in women's soccer.
The Matchup
Davidson (2-2, 0-0 A-10), which is riding a two-game winning streak, plays host to ETSU Thursday under the lights. The Wildcats are 1-2 at home to start the year.
The All-Time Series/Last Meetings
The all-time series against ETSU dates back to 1997 and is only eight games old. The Wildcats hold a 7-1 lead in the series, with its only setback a 2-1 decision in 2003. The last meeting occurred back in 2004, the final season ETSU was in the Southern Conference with Davidson, and saw the 'Cats net a 1-0 win on the road.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson went 2-0 last weekend to even its record at 2-2 ... it scored wins of 2-1 and 3-0 against Gardner-Webb and Wofford ... senior Maggie Boyd led a second-half surge vs. Wofford by scoring two of the Wildcats' three goals in the half ... one of the scores was Davidson's first penalty kick of the season ... it was the senior's first career two-goal outing ... Eleonora Goldoni has a team-high two goals, while Koren Simona has a goal and an assist ... keeper Jasmine Elliott has started all three games, sporting a 1.00 goals against average and 11 saves to go with two shutouts ... ETSU went 9-9-1 a year ago and 4-4-1 in conference play ... the Buccaneers returned to the SoCon in 2014 after a nine-year run in the Atlantic Sun ... they were picked to finish fifth in the league, while Emily McKerlie and Molly Collinson were preseason all-league picks ... ETSU returns 19 players from last season.
