DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson field hockey (0-2) looks to break into the win column this weekend, welcoming first-year program LIU Brooklyn (0-0) to Belk Turf Field for a Saturday showdown at 12:00 p.m.

The Wildcats are coming off a rough start, dropping their season opener to Georgetown 3-1 and a double-overtime heartbreaker to Ball State 2-1 last weekend.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore Kristin Kisa netted the 'Cats first goal of the season- and the first of her career- last Friday against Georgetown, when Kisa received the ball from senior captain Anne Federico from the left side of the field and softly tapped it in. Despite the loss, Davidson tripled the Hoyas in shots.

An early goal just two minutes into the contest proved to be the difference on Sunday, as Ball State found the back of the cage quickly. Federico scored the equalizer in dramatic fashion with just 00:17 left on the clock in the first half. The Cardinals sought payback, blasting a high ball off the back right of the cage with just a minute left in the second overtime period to secure the victory.

SCOUTING THE BLACKBIRDS
In their first year as both a program and competing at the Division I level, the Blackbirds support a roster of 19 freshmen and are led by veteran coach Pat Kennedy, who has over twenty years working and coaching in college athletics and spent time as a member of the NCAA Regional Field Hockey Committee. LIU Brooklyn is beginning its inaugural season Saturday.

UP NEXT
Davidson embarks on its first road trip of the season, traveling to Farmville, Va., to face Longwood on Sunday, Sept. 11. The Lancers are currently 2-1 and also trumped 2015 Atlantic 10 champions Richmond 4-3 in exhibition play.
