DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's lacrosse team earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the 2015-2016 academic year, as announced recently by the IWLCA. A total of 276 schools across Division I, II, III and NAIA were honored with IWLCA.
It marks the sixth straight year dating back to 2011 the Wildcats have earned the team academic honor. In order to qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team grade point average for the year. Davidson as a team this year held a 3.25 GPA.
The Wildcats had a nice second year in the Atlantic 10, reaching the league's tournament for the first time with a 5-4 record. They went 8-9 overall, falling to Saint Joseph's in the quarterfinals of the A-10 tournament, 10-7, to end the season. Davidson will return 18 letterwinners, including six starters. Leading the way will be A-10 All-Second Team goalie Rose Woolson, A-10 All-Rookie Team member Sarah Kopp and Annie Brockett, who was named to the A-10 All-Championship Team and is the top goal scorer returning with 25.
