ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Junior Conrad Mueller of the Davidson football team has been selected to the Preseason All-Pioneer Football League team, announced by the league office Tuesday.
"We are excited about Conrad's leadership and development," said Head Coach Paul Nichols. "We think Conrad will be a source of strength on our special teams units."
Mueller, a 2015 All-PFL honorable mention selection, is making his first appearance on the league's preseason team. The Waxhaw, N.C., native has appeared in all 23 games at long snapper for the 'Cats over his first two seasons.
"This is a tremendous honor for Conrad and well deserved," said Special Teams Coordinator Mario Price. "Each special teams snap starts with Conrad and he has worked extremely hard at his craft. I know he will continue to excel as a deep snapper and be an integral part of our special teams units."
Mueller and Butler's Connor Aranas are the first long snappers named to a Preseason All-League team all-time.
"Conrad is one of the hardest working football players I have ever met," said junior kicker Trevor Smith. "He is a vital part of special teams at Davidson and we would not have had the success as a unit in our careers if it weren't for him."
The Wildcats open the 2016 slate in a non-conference tilt at Georgetown University Saturday, Sept. 3. Davidson hosts its first game at Richardson Stadium against Livingstone College on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. and opens PFL League play the following week on the road at Valparaiso.
